Luke, have you got this working?

It sounds like an SSL Proxy to me. Ie it accepts the SSL traffic on port 25 and then sends the unencrypted message to the port that ASSP is listening on. Won't this mean that ASSP will see all email as coming from 127.0.0.1 and won't be able to do all the pre-bayesian sender checks? Ie the problem that occurs when you use a backup MX server.

I can't think of a way in which you can use SSL for SMTP traffic unless ASSP does the SSL itself. If one of the SSL perl modules can be incorporated into ASSP that would answer all our prayers!
