My logic says that spam rarely stays similar over a four months period.
But I see the logic of your words.

Just a small question - when you say "more sources" what do you mean?

The way to adjust maxfiles depending on  age is very questionable and
unnessary.
Where is the difference between 2 or 3 month? Or 4 month?

The rule for the database are simple: 
more words -> better
more sources -> better
 (15000<maxfiles <25000 )
( 4000<maxsizes<10000)

If you reduce maxsize you can increase maxfiles. That will give you
good relations in rebuildspamdb.
