Will do; I delayed upgrading to the latest 1.2.7 but I've now upgraded
one of the servers to the latest version (v1.2.7.7(1)) and it seems to be
working ok; will report any "glitch"

Uhm .. so I was right when I wrote about the 100k buffer :) also, and since
I'm at it; here are the various versions of perl and of the modules I'm
using on the machine on which I just installed the latest ASSP

Perl 5.008007 Perl.org
ASSP 1.2.7.7(1) release beta
File::Scan::ClamAV 1.06  CPAN
Compress::Zlib 1.41  CPAN
Digest::MD5 2.33  CPAN
Email::Valid 0.15  CPAN
File::ReadBackwards 1.04  CPAN
Mail::SPF::Query 1.999001  CPAN
Mail::SRS 0.30  CPAN
Net::DNS 0.59  CPAN
Net::LDAP 0.32  CPAN
Time::HiRes 1.76  CPAN
Sys::Syslog   CPAN
Win32::Daemon 20030617  roth.net
Tie::RDBM mysql not available  CPAN

a last note; the "Sys::Syslog" module isn't available for Windows but
the "Net::Syslog" is; it would be nice to have ASSP using the latter so
that the syslog feature will work on both windows and unix
