Sadly the scanning engine in ClamAV is not very optimized, if you have a 
large volume of email I would recommend keeping an exchange integrated 
virus scanner, personally I use Trend Micro at the moment but if I were 
to building a new server/switch I would definitely go with nod32.

Also I see you are running Exchange 2007, I have not been able to test 
the ClamAV scanner on a 64 bit OS yet so I don't know if it will work, 
for that you would have to ask the w32 team http://w32.clamav.net/.
