I see no problem with the fact that they are ready to buy a software to
do the job.
Get a good expensive commercial anti-spam filter out there and buy it,
just make sure you include all costs (aquisition, training, deployment,
paid support, maintenance) and that the product has the same
fonctionnality as ASSP.
Also make sure you agree with them on what will be the SLA for that
product and how you will interact with the paid support.

[Assp-user] ASSP usage around the world.
Does anyone have an idea of how many implementations of ASSP there are out
there and perhaps if any major corporations/agency’s are using it. The
big wigs here are mandating that we go with a pay product so we have
support as well as the idea that it will work better. Huh!?. It doesn’t
seem to matter that time and time again I have shown that ASSP has a
99.95% accuracy rate and support, even bugs, are addressed the same day,
if not with in hours of reporting them. On a side note, it irritates the
shit out of me when people who know nothing about the technology ignore
the knowledgeable person’s recommendations!
Anyway, If I could come up with some numbers and perhaps names I think I
could justify keeping it. The worst part is if we do end up going to
something else, I’ll get a big black eye when it doesn’t work as well.
“Why didn’t you pick a better filter!”. Ass hats.
