Much higher *minimum* requirements, yes... but with todays systems, it
really isn't that big of a difference. If you want to run ASSP on an
ancient system (P3/P4, < 1Ghz, <128MB RAM), stick with 1.x... but if
your system is reasonably modern, and you can afford (few cannot) the
RAM (it is extraordinarily cheap these days), I'd be planning on
migrating to 2.x as soon as it is stable on your testing system.
