Steve,
I'm using ASSP 1.7.5.7(1.0.07)
I've been using SSL on port 465 in ASSP since 1.6 somthing (I think)

Maybe I can help check setup.
I will mention that there was a problem getting mail to go through ASSP 
to the mail program on SSL port.
I'm running on Windows 2003 R2 with hMailServer.
