This message is thrown, because we saw unexpected dieing workers in the
past.
There is something wrong in some linux distributions - or maybe it is
designed this way (no clue) - but some milli-seconds after we got an
established TCP connection using 'socket->accept', Perl is unable to
retrieve the peer IP from the OS-socket-information store. This is not
normal!
OK - if assp detects this issue, it closes the connection and throws this
error.
If everything else is working fine - ignore this message.

>Perl 5.14 - Perl 5.16

At the moment I have not enougth information (2 systems) about this issue:
- it (only) happens on linux systems (freeBSD,CentOS)
- it (only) happens on Perl 5.12

Only for my records, please tell me the exact OS version , Perl version
(perl -v) and is your Perl a precompiled RPM - or is it self compiled
(from source).

Betreff: [Assp-user] "unable to detect connected IP addresses"
error

I'm running ASSP version 2.2.1(12265) on a CentOS 5 server, with Perl
5.12.4. The system is fully updated but I started getting these
notification emails when I upgraded ASSP.

error: This system is some time unable to detect connected IP addresses
- check that you use the latest C-library, Perl-version and Perl module
versions

I can't really do anything about the C-library, being that this is an
RPM based system, and I've updated all the Perl modules, so is the
recommended fix to move up to Perl 5.14? Or is it necessary to go all
the way up to bleeding edge Perl 5.16 to resolve this?

thanks,
-C
