I would much rather see the posts get ignored.

Unfortunately, being ignored just invites most people to post again -- loudly and more insistently.

This is one of the more hostile lists I've seen,

You have led a net-sheltered life :)

Back in the day, the VMS mailing list made this list look like a tea party. Carl Lydic would slice and dice noobs with profanity and vulgarity. He also took the time to share amazing insight to challenging questions. Another member (who shall go nameless just in case my memory fails me, but I think his initials were EG) would reply with convoluted and obtuse DCL (shell) code that would erase the system disk and then dismiss the resulting outrage with "if they were stupid enough to run code they didn't understand on hardware they didn't own, they deserved to lose their job."

The dev list is not "level 2 user support."

I'd like to see asterisk-dev be "read-only" unless you have "agreed" to a code of conduct or demonstrated an understanding of the difference between user and dev questions.

I do agree that inappropriate posters can be "schooled" efficiently and considerately.

Thanks in advance,
