I have not tried firmware 3.2.x. I'll give that a try once I figure out the old config system.
with the backlight off, however the screen background is dark. At night with the backlight off the display doesn't light up the room and is hard to read. The backlight has a whitish color when it is on.
Guess my perception of backlight off is ok then. Glad I'm not loosing my marbles :-)
