It was nothng more than the "beep boop beep" tones that signaled a disconnected line, another marketing fraud. You can get the .wav on the Internet, and record it to your answer box to achieve the same results (if any are firthcoming).

There used to be word of a device (one of those coloured boxes) which could do
that. :-)
