sorry, my bad. typo in the email, but it was correct in modules.conf. I"m trying to reinstall the zaptel stuff, but i'm not seeing anything in var/log/messages after doing my modprobe's....?

try running the "dmesg" command - the digium stuff appears there instead of /var/log/messages on my system.
