Thanks for the info. We are using Hughes down here too (since they provide
services to DirecWay). Not sure how the relationship is exactly. I think
here (Guatemala) we use SATMEX5.

Next week I'll try it out. I'll be shocked out of my mind if it works on the
sat connections down here, but hey, more sales :).

Iīm using  Hughes Telecom services. His "satellite footprint"  
unfortunatelly ,
donīt cover your area. I have sucess using other providers.
My contract allows me a downstream conn ( 512kbps/s ) and upstream (
100kbps/s).
I donīt know exacly to say why IAX2 over satellite is better than SIP.
I only have made " some tests "  and i had a better conversation Using IAX.
