Hi Alfred, Thanks for the hint -- I'll be installing Cacti later today to see if there's something obvious going on. There's a very high possibilty that one of the sites I've seen this at is a faulty switch issue (their server room is running about 40C (100F) when the door's closed after-hours -- A/C is being installed this weekend, phew!). The other site (my office) has a switch that's quite well-behaved, though we do tend to have less issues with the phones.
Both * servers in question are running 2.4.27... Thanks for the advice though, I'll let you know how it goes... -- Dave Henderson Customer Service Manager The IT Department, Inc. ph: 613-523-2322x321 fx: 613-526-3949 > -----Original Message----- > From: Alfred Certain [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: November 26, 2004 2:02 PM > To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion > Cc: Dave Henderson > Subject: Re: [Asterisk-Users] SIP phones cutting out with Asterisk?? > > Hi Dave, > > I had a similar problem some time ago on one of our customers > servers and it's not an Asterisk problem,I suggest you to > take a look at your network state, we found a switch failure > causing that, you can try this tool to test the network: > > http://www.cacti.net/ > > Cacti is designed to be a complete graphing solution for your > network. > Its goal is to make the network administrator's job easier by > taking care of all the necessary details necessary to create > meaningful network graphs. > > One more important thing is the Kernel you are using.
