I've been futzing with a Sipura SPA-3000 for a month now, and still
can't get it to work the way I want. I'd like to go with a
stripped-down version of my original * setup, and that requires a single
FXO card.
What I want to do is incredibly simple (in my mind at least).
Bell line into the FXO port, cordless phone into the FXS port. Incoming
calls from the PSTN go to a specific extension in *. When the rules
allow it to, * can ring the cordless phone. When the cordless phone is
taken off hook, you get dial and any digits you dial are handled by a
different * context. * can then direct your call out the FXO port, or
(in some future iteration) to another SIP termination service.
I've tried settting it up manually. I've tried [EMAIL PROTECTED] I've tried the
Voxilla SPA-3000 configurator tool. I've installed CentOS more times
than I would like to mention here, but have never gotten it working as
described above. Most often, I get strange errors in my logs indicating
that the user I have asked the SPA-3000 FXO to register as is not found
in family "SIP/Registry". Other times I've been able to get into the
incoming context from the PSTN, but I couldn't place outbound calls.
So, my stripped down idea is to have a single X100P (or similar) and
split the Bell line so that it goes into the cordless phone and the *
box. I can then do incoming call processing, but only in an "answering
machine" capacity, as once I have picked up the call in * I don't think
I can make the cordless phone ring. I could spit something out the PC
speaker I suppose, and use that as clue for someone to take the cordless
off hook, but I suspect that 's more complex than the (non technical)
users will be able to handle.
I thought going the Sipura route would be the quickest way to play with
* while not having to deal with the whole "the computer is rebooting so
I can't call 911" issue. But so far, no joy.
Any ideas are welcome. As for selling it, I suppose my interest in
doing so would be inverse to the number of helpful replies. But don't
let that prevent you from throwing out a thought if you have one. 8-)
Thanks
