Current rates seem to be: Fee for one trunk line: $94.51, plus $2.09 for each additional trunk line. http://www.socan.ca/jsp/en/resources/tariffs.jsp
Q: What about telephone music on hold? A: If a background music supplier provides your music on hold, then the supplier should pay. If you use music from CDs, DVDs, tapes or the radio, then your business is required to pay (under Tariff 15B). Cost is based on the number of trunk lines (lines simultaneously available for outside calls) in use. There's a base fee for the first line, then a nominal fee for each additional line. One would assume that you could go many years without having a problem, but it is the law... You must buy a license from SOCAN. The stations themselves may also prohibit this use. http://www.socan.ca/ Of course this also applies to playing CDs. The last time I checked the licenses are cheap though. -- John Lange OpenIT ltd. www.Open-IT.ca (204) 885 0872 VoIP, Web services, Linux Consulting, Server Co-Location On Thu, 2006-02-09 at 08:54 -0500, Henry Coleman [VoIP-PBX.ca] wrote: > I have a Jazz station from the USA as my clients MOH source.
