I also agree that we should have the list munge the reply-to header.
This is really a case of appealing to the majority. The main reason to
not munge reply-to is that the user's reply-to header line is lost. How
many people have different Reply-tos today? I did a scan of the last 392
messages (from my inbox) and Nabeel is the only one with a reply-to
different than his From address and it looks like it's because of other
reasons.

Then take the case of reply. I reply more often to the list than to the
author. To be nice to the author I don't "reply to all" ((s)he'd get
two), but I cut and paste.  I would far rather cut and paste when I
reply to author.
