Hi folks,
Been reading this list for a while now and see that there are a lot of
very knnowledgeable asterisk people here.... so here's where to ask
questions... right?
I have asterisk 1.4.11 running nicely with a few softphones and a
spa-3102 interface to the pstn and the pots phones in the house. (thanks to
Tony Hebert for help with getting the spa working)
Now I have voicemail boxes for each family member even though the
family only hears (normally) incoming calls on the pots phones. Here are the
questions (reference to online documentation would be great):
1) How do I detect messages in the mailboxes and indicate it on the
pots phones, audibly? Either a distinctive "stutter" for each mailbox, or a
'playbck("Terry has new mail") kind of thing when the person picks up one of
the pots phones.
2) Incoming callers are presented with an IVR to allow them to choose
who they wish to talk to/leave a message for. Since incoming calls are usually
received on one of the pots phones (not separate extensions/sip-phones) i'd
like to have distinctive ringing depending on who the call is targeted for. The
Spa-3102 appears to allow distictive ringing for up to eight different callers,
not call recipients. Does anyone familiar with the spa-3102 or 3000 haveany
suggestions on how to make the pots phones ring distinctively for each call
recipient? I'm thinking of kludging it, by putting a different callerid in
before dialing the spa, so that it will ring a different ring for each family
member. Not very elegant but it should work... any better ideas?
3) I'm blind, so callerid display units are useless to me. Would it be
possible to have asterisk vocalize the incoming callerid (number or name) when
I pick up the phone, before I actually connect to the incoming call? giving me
the choice to connect or ignore it? or maybe transfer it to a torment extension
or something?
I can see some possible ways of doing these things, but I'm sure there
are people who have done these or similar already, so thought I'd ask. Please
forgive me if these questions are out of line for this list.
thanks in advance for any suggestions/ideas,
--terry
