I use a portable internet router (telus cellular data card on kyrocera router).
Send to client site, someone plugs it in, and voila...internet access on
demand.

Costs me a bit a month but I use it all the time for my own use, and it's come
in handy for several clients that don't want internet access.

On another note, the way we used to do it was a basic modem on a windows box
with pcanywhere (or if it had linux version, don't know). I don't know if the
software is available any more but it worked well. From there, an internal
network to ssh or vnc and you could get at anything on your network.

Subject: [on-asterisk] Thoughts

Hi All,

I am looking for some idea's on how I might be able to accomplish this.

I need to be able to access a phone system remotely. the issue is
that it is not on the internet.

So, I am trying to see if there is a way for either a cellular type of
setup or a modem that I can drop on the one of the phone lines and
just have someone at the site turn it on.

I know, internet is cheap..... But if I only need it once or twice a
year for software upgrades, then that is a very pricy solution.

So, here's to all of the "out of the box" thinkers out there.

What I have though so far is to find an external modem that would
create the bridge to the network.. But I think these are very pricy
again.

So, let me know what you think?
