The T1 probably needs to be re-terminated and will certainly need to be
re-programmed at the CO.
So they've got some work to do to make this happen, but they don't have
to roll a truck to your premises.
Actually, they probably will roll a truck in order to verify the circuit
is good, and re-label the PairGain (smartjack), but they won't have to
install any hardware.

Thanks for the input guys.
I guess that is the case as they have run out of pairs. But with a T1 in place
shouldn't the third party internet provider be able to easily change the
signaling to PRI without even involving Bell Canada? do you think there is some
company bureaucracy that plays here or is it that Bell has to actually do
something on their end as well to change this T1 line into a PRI.
Change from:Site - Cisco Router + T1 interface> Bell providing lines - third
company T1 interface providing internet
To:Site - Asterisk+PRI card> Bell PRI equipment> third company PRI equipment
I am wondering if Bell is even need to put PRI equpiment in between or if they
their loop equipment to third company is able to connect either of internet or
PRI over the same equipment which makes more sense to me as Bell is only a
connect point and it's only a pair of cables and nothing else.
Thanks again

Bruce, they may be telling you this because they have ran out of pairs
to the target unit and the exsisting pairs are leased by a 3rd party.

Hi Guys,
I am wondering if any of you guys have experience with converting a T1 to a
PRI. I have a situation where Bell says there is no facility to install a PRI
circuit but there are two T1 circuits already installed on site. I can
disconnect both or one in favor of PRI. The T1s are provided by yet another
company but of course they are leasing Bell lines.
They are just complicating and delaying the whole process even with my option
of converting T1 to PRI.
Any thoughts? it will help me understand the feasibility better and maybe train
those lazy order managers on it.
Thanks,Bruce
