No, I was wondering if it were somehow tied to the CPE cable modem or the
specific port on their aggregator, and also from the perspective of
novice network admin setting up their network.
For instance, I have a static IP address for my Primus PPPoE account. It
gets assigned to the network interface by the PPPoE client using the
account credentials, making it harder to mess up address/gateway/dns
server settings.
With IPv6 on the horizon, the chance of error just goes up, so it would
be nice if the service "just worked" without someone having to type in
decimal or hex digits.
