Hi all,

I've been working on provisioning for Polycom phones. I'm specifically
working with a 301 and a 501. I have most everything working OK.

I'm using the latest SIP load (2.0.2) and boot ROM (3.2.2) which I
downloaded from Polycom.

I'm testing with Astlinux 0.4.3.

I have been unable to make the Polycoms work with the NTP functionality
of Astlinux using dnsmasq. If I modify sip.cfg to point at a different
NTP server, it works. I suspect there must be a 'trick'...string vs.
number, or something? A different DHCP option?

If anyone can shed any light on this for me, I'd really appreciate it.
I already spent quite a bit of time on this without cracking this last
piece of the provisioning puzzle...now, on to Snoms...

Also, I wrote a small script (a single command, really) that will
reformat the phone1.cfg sample file from Polycom and output a (more)
properly formatted phonexxxx.cfg file for your actual phones. It even
sets the MWI stuff up and points it at your actual voicemail extension.

This might be useful to someone trying to set up scripted provisioning,
but there is probably a much better way to do this...

I started a page on my web site to document my testing:

Thanks in advance,

G

p.s. Gary, if you don't mind, I'd like to take you up on your offer to
share your base configs. I started from scratch. It's really a great
platform, but all I have so far is a skeleton...Thanks much! (e-mail
below...)
