Maybe that partially explains the apparent resistance to include some sort of REAL gui in Astlinux.

I messed around yesterday with installing the GUI included in Asterisk v1.4.  Never got it running but I know more about it anyways.  It's completely flat, no Apache or mysql requirements, very small footprint, I would say it's an excellent candidate for Astlinux.

Subject: Re: [Astlinux-users] StarBox-X vs. Astlinux vs Star2Star

I read everything on Star2Star commercial site and on StarBox-X site.

Star2Star is a brilliant business model. As advertised, it truly bridges the gap between open-source and business grade implementation for SMBs.

One question that I am not able to answer is that if StarBox-X is open-source, why isn't the Web configuration GUI that the commercial Star2Star uses is available to AstLinux?

As I understand it, StarBox-X is open-source "version" of the commercial Star2Star minus all the service offerings by Star2Star such as monitoring, IP Trunks, etc.

Kris,

Thanks for the detailed reply. It sounds like you are helping form a
mini-Fonality for the small business segment. I hope you don't mind the
comparison. It looks like a nice product/service offering.
