I don't use a keydisk, I use the UnionFS trick to map the whole root
partition over the read-only root partition.

I can clearly see the differences using Thunderbird due to the vertical
bars.
The boot screen at times scrolls by so fast that I could easily have
missed something.
You could copy/paste the output of dmesg (ie. /var/log/messages) on
www.pastebin.ca so the experts may find a clue. Please include /etc/rc.conf
and the astlinux*.run.conf files.
