Hi, After playing with AstLinux 0.6.2, I'm finding problems with RTC and the ztdummy module. When I execute the zttest command, I get really bad results running on an Intel Atom 1.6 motherboard (always in the 99.98% or less!)
Just to make sure I was chasing the right issue, I compiled AstLinux-Trunk with kernel 2.6.26.8 and the same zttest command prints out much better results (always over 99.99%). After reading a bit on the web, I found that the RTC and the High Resolution Timers are screwed up in kernel 2.6.20 and the author recommends to upgrade at least to 2.6.24. How can we cleanly upgrade the kernel on Astlinux 0.6.2 or do we need to wait for the next release? We also need to replace the r8169 network driver for the RealTek 1Gbps ethernet card to the r8168_n network driver (downloaded from RealTek). Many new MSI boards use the new RealTek ethernet chip. I'm no expert on building kernels, but let me know how I can help. So far, I was able to get AstLinux running well on my cheap Wind PC system by updating the ethernet driver and by enabling the HD audio with the alsa tools. I also got my CrystalFontz 635 LCD display running well by enabling the USB_SERIAL and USB_SERIAL_FTDI_SIO in the kernel. But I had to add this line: "hpet=disable" in the astlinux-0.6.2.run.conf file in order to run properly. I just need to fix this High Resolution Timer problem in order to have a perfect AstLinux system. Thanks. Stephan Monette Unlimitel Inc. TollFree: 1-877-464-6638 Fax: 613-482-1077
