I'm pretty sure we extended support for SATA devices in trunk. Eventually we'll have that ready to test then release. Most people who are using Astlinux are installing it on a CF card and not using SATA devices. It is something we want to support though.
Trunk already has a much newer kernel than what's in 0.6.x.
