Does...
$ find /oldroot/mnt/asturw/usr/share/zoneinfo/

return anything?

If so, remove the stale unionfs overlay for the TZ data, and reboot.

$ rm -r /oldroot/mnt/asturw/usr/share/zoneinfo/
