I have been doing a lot of learning and reading and googling.. and it was
beginning to come to me that uclibc might be the culprit...

My guess is that when astlinux started years ago (I used it first back in
2005 I think?) that it was simply just a simple asterisk system t orun on
embdedded platforms.. my first was running on a net4801...

Now the project seems to be getting bigger legs and feet.. more followers..
and as well more features people want to use...

I realize dynamically loading Modules may be risky business on an embedded
platform...

My main interest is to be able to protect some PHP scripts I have written
and so SourceGuardian came to mind... however its loader requires dynamic
loading through php..

I have been learning a lot about and how to work with the astlinux-devel
environment..

So let me know if I can be of assistance.. I am more than willing to build,
test, and help out with the advancement of the astlinux project..

Granted I would have no idea how to axe uclibc.. wow that's a colossal
project in and of itself!

Subject: Re: [Astlinux-users] php Dynamic library support?

Chris,

We are taking some preliminary steps to address this and several other
shortcomings with our current build system.

With our current system, there are limitations due to uClibc. These
include not being able to use g729 codec for transcoding, not being able
to use Skype for Asterisk or the fax module from Digium.

We hope to identify the next system we will use for AstLinux in the next
few weeks, but keep in mind that it's likely to be a fairly long process
to get to the point where we have a 'release' ready.

One of our goals for the next big jump with AstLinux is to make it
easier for people like yourself to add additional functionality.
