That would explain your problem. :-)

You should have dnsmasq running.

What is your "/mnt/kd/dnsmasq.static" file ?  It is created/defaults to the 
file "/stat/etc/dnsmasq.static" when initially setup.

If in doubt,

$ cp /stat/etc/dnsmasq.static /mnt/kd/dnsmasq.static

$ service dnsmasq init

you should be good to go.
