as a telephony provider for the hospitality industry here in the USA.. there
are a couple competitors of ours doing pure hosted over NON MPLS pipes.. as
they couldnt sell their product over MPLS for any better price than a legacy
PBX... their customers complain quite a bit about latency, complete loss of
service (if the pipe goes down), voice quality issues, post-dial delay, etc..
we find with the low-cost of installing a hybrid approach (a call control on
prem to handle internal calls, wakeups, etc) and use SIP services for in /
outbound calls, Auto attendant, etc that the customers Love it.... Hosted will
eventually be fully ready for prime time over the regular internet.. but right
now it just doesnt have the customer satisfaction levels that hybrid or full
premise based systems do...
