I tried Ubuntu 12/04 and it did not work either. Followed the instructions in
http://doc.astlinux.org/devdoc:documentation the command 'make oldconfig' gives
an error!

I have run into problems with Crosstools as well. I do not know if it is the
same problem as you have but in my case I found a mismatch between the version
of crosstools used by AstLinux and the version of linux that I was building on
(I use Ubuntu). I can build using Ubuntu 12.04, but I cannot upgrade to 12.10
or 13.04 because Crosstools would need to be updated to a newer version as
well... which AstLinux has not done yet.

Following guide #2 craps out when the Crosstool-NG script is followed. At the
./configure command I get:-
A mandatory dependency is missing, or version mismatch:
'automake' 1.10 or above was not found
Configure: bailing out .....
Anyone know what is happening??? I really like Astlinux and have run it on my
home PC. Really want to get this going on a VPS. Please help if you know ehat
the fix is.
