Darla and everyone, Although I don't believe MCB's lists serves should be shut down for no apparent reason, I don't feel comparing this situation to GDUI is appropriate. GDUI is not closing down the lists, but making changes that will benefit members. Plenty of notification has been given to members in the upcoming changes. GDUI still has the Friends list, is constructing a new announce list and another new system as well as other beneficial offers to members, keeping all members well informed. Second, this ATI list is certainly not an appropriate place to post such comparison as many are not a member of GDUI.
I hope MCB's president reviews her decision to close these lists, as I have found them very helpful and a great place to keep updated on various issues concerning the blind and visually impaired. Many of us may not always respond to a post, but many of us read them and greatly appreciate the information and find it quite useful. It seems the president shouldn't have that kind of power, and she certainly had time--between elections, etc.--to bring this to the floor in an honest, forthright manner rather than slinking around to do it. Thank God for lists that help us out that are hosted elsewhere and thus can't be corrupted by power misused. Subject: [ATI] MCB Lists It's not really my place to make this announcement but I believe the members of MCB should be notified that our president is shutting down all of the list serves that we have. This list is the only one that is active but will be shut down today sometime. The lists that are included in the shut down are the chat list, the Missouri-L list and the Education and Welfare list. I'm not sure about the Guide Dog list, the Board list or the thrift store list, but if the others are shut down then all of them should be. I also believe that an announcement should have been made before this was done as to why they are being shut down. _______________________________________________ ATI (Adaptive Technology Inc.)
