I personally use my iPhone now days for much of my BARD listening. But there will always be a place in my heart for Victor. I still carry mine everywhere. While it’s recording capabilities continue to suck, sorry but I just can’t put it much more diplomatically than that, it’s wireless capabilities for Daisy 3.0 let you listen to up to 30,000 online radio stations directly, and it’s got that easy comfortable lay-out that we are used too. Also when Bard goes to direct downloads for talking books you should be able to download them directly to the device. There are other small Daisy players like the Plextalk Pocket and the Booksense that are also good, but their battery life isn’t quite as good. All of these are good devices. For reviews I would see Access World.
Okay, a little more on the Stream. Sometimes you can find the old Streams at reduced prices. A lot of people are selling their units because of the iPhone app, put an ad on Blind Bargains.com. Also the new Stream has improved voices for reading text, and I think you can set it to output recordings directly as MP3, but I wouldn’t swear to that. There is a recording on accessibleworld.net from just last week of the product manager for the Stream discussing the newest features in the device. Hope this all helps. From: Starner, alicia M. I cannot believe I did that to my Stream. I believe I am in the market for a new device. Is Victor Stream still the way to go, or are there better devices on the market? Does anyone have a suggestion. Thanks, Alicia From: ATI [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Reginald George Sent: Sunday, March 23, 2014 1:16 PM To: Adaptive technology information and support. Subject: Re: [ATI] Victor Stream question It’s only the battery if she can make it work when it’s plugged in, and I’m betting she can’t. If this is the case the Stream is toast. I shouldn’t even say that about toast because I love toast. It’s a sad day though. If anyone needs stream batteries, get them directly from Nanopac at 800-580-6086. That way you can avoid the $20 shipping charge from Humanware in Canada. From: Alyssa Sent: Sunday, March 23, 2014 10:25 AM To: Adaptive technology information and support. I noticed that I had the wrong cord immediately, but not before I plugged it into the wall and the Stream. Now that I found the right charger, the Victor Stream no longer operates. Has any of you ever made this mistake and if so how did you fix your Stream. I have never done anything like this before, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Alicia who feels stupid for using the wrong charger. _______________________________________________ ATI (Adaptive Technology Inc.)
