+1 to removing any and all mentions of CGI Authentication. The most APP
needs to do is recommend that implementations use authentication and
indicate that, at a minimum, implementations should support HTTPS+Basic.

Take a look at the early Abdera code
(http://www.snellspace.com/public/abdera.tar.gz). There is example code
that implements an APP client the Apache Commons HTTP Client.
