Finally managed to try again after my ISP's on-again-off-again service
finally reappeared, only to find a "catch-22" with nvidia-graphics kmdl.
The dependencies on ipw3945-ucode are now OK for the 2869 kernel, but
the 2868 kmdls still depend explicitly on the older package and there is
no nvidia-graphic9764 kmdl for
kernel-suspend2-2.6.18-1.2869_1.fc6.cubbi_suspend2

So yum still gets:

# yum update
Loading "fastestmirror" plugin
Loading "priorities" plugin
Loading "kmdl" plugin
Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Setting up Update Process
Setting up repositories
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
Reading repository metadata in from local files
0 packages excluded due to repository priority protections

ipw3945-kmdl-2.6.18-1.2868.fc6

Still have to exclude ipw3945-ucode to update with yum and and use
SmartPM to fall back to nvidia-graphic9762 and associated kmdls or I can
get WiFi but no graphics with 2869 suspend2 kernel, or graphics but no
WiFi with 2868 suspend2 kernel. There is still a dependency of
nvidia-graphics on nvidia 9764 packages which seem to have disappeared.
SmartPM removed nvidia-graphics during the fall-back and now complains:

Can't install nvidia-graphics-2:[EMAIL PROTECTED]: no package
        provides nvidia-graphics9746

but nvidia-graphics9742 and friends are installed an working.

So, seems that the topic should now be "nvidia-graphics-2:1.0.9746-17.at
issues". :-/

I'm up and running under
kernel-suspend2-2.6.18-1.2869_1.fc6.cubbi_suspend2 with
ipw3945-kmdl-2.6.18-1.2869_1.fc6.cubbi_suspend2-1.2.0-18.2.fc6.at
nvidia-graphics9742 and ipw3945-ucode-1.13-2.at and still have my backup
kernel-suspend2-2.6.18-1.2868_1.fc6.cubbi_suspend2 and
ipw3945-kmdl-2.6.18-1.2868_1.fc6.cubbi_suspend2 available, and all other
current updates installed thanks to "yum exclude=ipw3945-ucode update".

Convoluted but OK for now. Will wait for the nvidia stuff to finish
baking.

Thanks for the help.

Phil
