Hi, I implemented a python interface for fmtools 2.0:

It supports lirc (an example of a configuration file is in /usr/share/fmtools) and records in ogg format. The wheel mouse button should raise or lower the volume, and it has its own window icon. Messages are presented via libnotify. It also has a software loopback for routing the capture sources on the sound card back in as PCM audio, if needed. It is working just fine for me, but I would like to have other people's opinion. I tried to keep the code as short as possible, and therefore it is not a fancy interface.
