Wouldn't it make sense to first try to (require 'crm nil t)?  Then its
default value will be `crm-default-separator'.  Only if that doesn't
work, we should hard-code a fallback (XEmacs has no crm.el).  The
standard default is "[ \t]*,[ \t]*", so we should use that, too.
