With the move to WordPress we've made the decision to discontinue
translating the website. Translation is high value and high effort.
With the old website, we claimed a large number of languages that we
were supposedly translated into, but most of these translations rapidly
became incomplete and in most languages the translated site was a mess.
There was no way volunteer effort could keep up. Instead we'd rather
put translation effort into places where it can keep up and where it
will make a much bigger positive difference to users.
Translation has the most impact for the program user interface. There is
though also the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ),
http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq.html which user support directs
people to. This has very high value, it is central to the Audacity
manual, and we would love to have the FAQ translated.
The FAQ is much more important than the website as it has the most
frequently asked questions. For detailed instructions of the kind in
the FAQ, where the user may already be confused, human translation would
make a very big difference. So if we are going to organise translation
of more than the user interface, can it be for the FAQ?
