Hebrew, Arabic, and Farsi are the three right-to-left languages that
Audacity supports. But I think we have not had expert help in updating any
of these since 2014.
Today I wrote a fix for one thing Audacity didn't do right for such
languages: the formatting of the tooltip hover texts for the buttons on
the Transport toolbar (pause, play, etc.).
Is anyone who knows those languages reading this now, or can you recommend
anyone?
As you know, I am contemplating a push for improved translation quality in
the next version. This will always depend on the completeness of
translators' work, outside the expertise of the development team, but it
also depends on us correcting English grammar biases in the way we make our
messages.
We have talked much about the plural problems lately (don't assume there
are no more than two alternate forms!). Right-to-left languages are
another case to keep in mind (be cautions about concatenation with
untranslated strings that might be LTR!).
So if you discover any problems peculiar to RTL, let me know.
