The Lorien theme was pretty good and had a suitably mystical quality. There's good pieces in the ost, but it's somewhat lackluster.
And I agree that making something in the spirit doesn't excuse it from scrutiny. In my opinion, the second and third films are overbloated Hollywood cliche films that left any attempt at faithfulness in favor of the kind of films American audiences would pay to see.
