Keep in mind that 2d doesn't ncessarily mean side scrolle... 2d simply means an environment with no up and down. I would personally like to see a game with full 2d movement or even 3d. To people who worry about combat being too hectic... most mainstream action games are in 2d with full movement in every direction, and enemies can come atyou 5 or 6 at a time sometimes more. This is where you have to strategically fight, not jut hack away. As for jumping... you don't necessaril have to have a control + arrow to jump... most games nowadays have dedicated jump buttns, and you go about that with the button only jumping you straight up and landing on the same spot unless you hold it in conjuntion with an arrow or directional button.
