The cave south of the temple? No, that one becomes available after reaching the third area, and having I think 3000 experience. Then you have to talk to a very spacific person. That dungeon has it's own little side plot, and is one of the cooler areas in the game, both for plot and music. It's also most definitely one of the hardest dungeons in the game, haha.
The bonus cave I was refering to after the ruins, you can find out about by talking to people in the faerie village. It's actually just two screens north of the save point below the forest, there's another save point marking it. You have to jump across a pit on the left side of that screen and immediately end up in the bonus cave.
There's usually a bonus cave after each dungeon, that you can access with the special abilities you earned from the character you get. Exploration really pays off in this game. For example, how many people found the treasure chest with a stamina wall in it one s creen above the ruins, that requires Lilia to get? And how many people have found all the chests on the plains? There's at least 2 free ones that don't require any abilities to get.
