Yes, I hope to avoid this thread turning into a flame war as well. Doing that with no third-party libraries to assist in the task sounds pretty painful.
I've actually been contemplating leaving bgt ever since I tried implementing the entity system. Doing it sucks without support for templates, generics or variable-length bitsets beyond 64 bits. Its lack of proper serialization support is now another reason for going that route. It was nice to use though for a while, because getting started, especially with an existing programming background, was very easy.
