Reports of how much less reliable SSD's are compared to mechanical drives are definitely exadurated. Look on
this site. The takeaway from this is quite simple, you'd have to write a rediculous amount of data before the drive would fail. If you decide to go for a setup with an SSD for the OS and your most used programs and a mechanical drive for the rest, this will be even less of an issue, and the performance definitely feels better. I use both a computer that has a mechanical drive and one with an SSD daily, both with very good processors and I can definitely feel that the SSD runs much faster.
