Re: Family Game Being Developed in Inform 7

Greetings LadyJuliette.

I like the idea so far but I already have some ideas which might be agreeable. Why should birth and death be the end of it? After your character dies, why not attend the funeral, make funeral arangements, attend the will reading etc? This'll all depend on how influential you were in life. If you were hated, you'll have no say in where your astate goes but if you were well loved then your wishes will be carried out come hell or high water. If you want more playing time, why not be able to manage your afterlife? You'll still have what you died with but instead of having children, you'll be able to guide those who believe in the afterlife but be careful because if you guide them wrong, you won't be able to see them again as they'll be elsewhere in their afterlife. I'm thinking 3 months for the afterlife then ending it when all family members join you. In order to give it a limit, I'm thinking from grand-parents to grand-children. If you don't want to stop playing the same character, why not introduce reincarnation? It's a bit like the remort system in some games but unlike in creation the first time round, you must create your identity before being reincarnated. If not, then the choices will be made for you depending on how good or evil you were before.

Speaking of having children, why not play around with that to? For example, if you have a child on samhain, they'd be very spiritual. If you have one when school starts, they'd be academicly gifted. If you have one in April, they'd be good in finance etc. However, why stop there? Let's plan the night in question right down to the letter. To ensure what character you want in your child, if you treat your partner well, that'll ensure your child will be good. Oh it won't eliminate bad traits but they can be well managed. A good dinner, a night out, a romantic setting leading up to the night of passion will ensure a smoother road in the future. Treat your partner badly and your actions will haunt you for the rest of the game and you could end up either dead or having to kill those around you if you continue treating them badly. Also, in the afterlife, you'll go to hell rather than heaven but not the traditional hell, it'll be rather like a prison.

Well that's all I've got for now but I can expand on it if you like but if I do then the game would be very big.

Kind regards, Amin Abdullah.
