@FeatheryPeachKitsune: Can you explain why, for example, magic doing less damage to insect and steel types makes sense to you? Since magic has nothing to do with attacking the mind, I don't really see the relationship between mind-based psychic attacks, and energy-based magic attacks. If anything, I've always pictured energy having a lot of heat to it, so it'd melt steel.
I also don't really understand why you say fighting doing less damage to poison makes sense either. The types just don't line up for me. Poison types in this game are everything from snakelike manamon, to poisonous plants, to giant turtles with poisonous shells. Snakes are easy to step on, punches and kicks probably wouldn't do much to plants, and given that fighting moves seem to be good at shattering hard surfaces in this game, I'd think it'd break the shell of the turtle.
I'm probably putting way, way too much thought into a simple balancing decision her e. Mostly it's just curiosity, I can't think of any way to change it without just stripping the type advantages and disadvantages that don't make sense, thus leaving a huge amount of neutral damage in the game.
