another thing to add to robjoy's post
always get the latest security updates for flash, java, reader windows etc
since malware can exploit security holes in programs to spread closing all known security holes will make your system secure
and as for an antivirus I am using avast atm
its almost fully usable when self defense is disabled with a few exceptions
1. system tray icon is inaccessible
2. shield disable controls are inaccessible
other than this the program is totally usable for now at least
