I suppose there are a few things to keep in mind about mice:
Lots of blind people don't have a mouse or trackpad, because they don't generally need them.
Many blind people are not experienced with mice and may find the idea dubious as a result.
If the mouse is used to locate things, aim, etc, the overall sound design and gameplay must be sufficiently understandable to make it intuitive. Some manner of spatial sound (at least stereo) is recommended. See also: screen readers on touch-based platforms, like iOS / Android.
Even if you create the greatest, most accessible game ever, people will still complain about the mouse as a barrier to entry. Think of it as more of a NES light-gun than an analogue stick, maybe?
