You don't need to know about the novels to play the game. It is a stand alone title that just incorporates elements in the novels' setting. As with other Choice Of Games titles, standard choices reveal options, change stats, the usual. What is different is the fact it is a published author taking a stab at the art form and using it to expand his universe. He's written another article on a different site which breaks down his outline strategy; however, I'm not posting it since the site in general is targeted to a more adult audience (with the strong language). Still, give this game a few play throughs Dark and come up with questions. Most lay-throughs won't take you maybe thirty to fourty minutes ... maybe more if you are taking your time. As with the other choice of Game titles, very accessible.
