Re: Is it worth the money to buy a Victor Reader Stream?
After trying to use my Iphone for audiobooks and music for two years and getting completely sick of Itunes, I bought a Victor stream and for the most part haven't regretted it at all.
Its just so much easier to bang something into a usb and copy things across rather than have to go through a hyper complex interface, indeed the way the victor navigates files and folders is very nice, especially for someone like me whose a bit of a demon for book/music organisation, and the battery life is excellent.
it also has a pretty good speaker in and of itself. Not any great shakes if you want to listen to music, but very good if you want to read auydiobooks aloud.
My only miner gripe with the device is that its' liquid shutdown sensor is stupidly sensitive, it also has an actual sensor in there so that if it gets wet it voids the warranty and you have to pay for a new one.
This happened to me twice in the space of three months. First time was genuinely my fault, having the device in a back pocket whilst washing up, albeit that the amount of water which spilled on the device was negligible, second time I simply pressed the keys with fingers I'd been eating a pizza with, fortunately, since that was scarcely two months after the first time and I basically complained that Humanware were taking advantage of blind people, they gave a keypad replacement for free which was nice.
We've also now got a leather case, actually the case from an old insulin monitor which I put my victor stream in for protection purposes.
So personally I'd say yes, the device is worth it, for ease of use , portability etc, just be extra careful with it around liquids.
